‘US AND THEM’ – The ‘Art of Thinking’ about Political Polarisation

Battle of Ideas Attraction.

Political polarisation refers to situations where an individual’s stance on a given issue, policy or person is likely to be strictly defined by their identification with a particular political party (for example, Labour or Conservative) or ideology (such as communism or democracy). Whether the issues involve identity politics, free speech, Trump, Brexit or climate change, contemporary politicos are at moral loggerheads with each other.

There’s a sense in 2019 that our political opponents don’t merely disagree with us, but think we are something like bad people, doing evil things. Is this dangerous for society, or is it simply what happens whenever a society is going through necessary changes?

Join us for an informal, sociable and thought-provoking talk and audience conversation. Led by philosopher Dr Greg Scorzo and punctuated with music and clips, with visuals by Lizzie Soden, this session is designed to untangle your thought processes and challenge and develop your personal worldview.
