THE BATTLE OF IDEAS took place in October 2016 at the Barbican Centre in London. It is organised by the Institute of Ideas. The central premise of this weekend is that free-speech is allowed. We went along and enjoyed being challenged by listening to a wide range of viewpoints. We found that our own views were either strengthened or changed by many we would have previously counted as our adversaries. This is why these events, where no ideas are censored, are so important to develop ideas and thinking in todays culture.
